Economics is a tricky business. But, it's more than just science that loops graphs, terms, markets, and supply and demand altogether. It's a science that creates ideas in response to the needs of times. Capitalism grew out of the industrial revolution. Keynesianism was a cry to the Great Depression. Communism was an answer opposite of capitalism. Today mixed economies run the world: a dash of free-markets, a pinch of government intervention, and a heapful of citizen participation. But there's a new entrée to the great hall of the sons of economics: The Spiritual Busyness model.
Most people are turned off when the word "spiritual" is paired off with a very sensible thing (like business). But what matters to us is that things make sense. The spiritual aspect of this model is in its goal: "to create and support all community business in love, kindness, and compassion". Sounds utopian? Let's get down to the "business" side of the equation. The model aims to stimulate cash flows with its "pay it forward" scheme. This means every man is given his due. Just because your higher up has the title "manager," ergo he has to be paid more than you. Because you are the one who is doing more significant work than him, you do not have to receive the trickle downs. The model envisions every man to do what he is best at. This is stamped by its workshop called: Life is Not Competition (LNC). It even has its proposed political movement called the Global Interdependence Movement.
But what does all of these have to do with you? Here are three things that make you stay up at night.
1) You Matter.
In capitalism, you do not matter if you cannot buy anything or sell any product or service. In communism, you just have to do what you are tasked with minimal freedom and maximum surveillance. Spiritual Busyness strips those down. Spiritual Busyness is a 49/51% equity owned franchise network cooperative. This means every member is a shareholder. All citizens, including those below the poverty line or those with student visas, can avail of the "living wage" proposal it has on the table. Once again, people like you and me are on the center stage.
2) Cash flow stimulation.
As mentioned with its "pay it forward" method, skill communities can generate as much income as they need without relying on third party systems. This system goes after ideas sharing and community formation rather than capitalizing. Banks can also focus more on serving the community instead of exploiting it. Fractional Lending Reserve is in a nutshell, one way banks can loan money to the government. This originated in 1694 with the English king, William of Orange. He decreed that the Bank of England could lend two pounds for every pound it held on deposit. This scheme has gone more intricate today, using a 10:1 ratio.
3) Service to humanity.
The author of this model, Alex Graham, planned this as his life's mission after a near-death experience (NDE). With five crushed vertebrae in his neck, ten ribs were broken down his spine, a fractured breastbone, ruptured lungs, and a truckload of bruises. He found a way to heal beyond the bounds of rationality. He came up with the Spiritual Busyness model as a response to his profound sense of miraculousness.
So how does it work?
Spiritual Busyness Model can work wonders such as fully funding home and mortgages, national broadcasting companies, the arts, climate change solutions, and almost anything that you can think of! It's the panacea of our times.
Governments are in shambles, and people are confused. The world today is disorienting. If economics provides answers fit to our times, then the Spiritual Busyness Model should appropriately be hailed as its new son.
